Professional Development Co-Chairs

The Professional Development Co-Chairs help the PWA community succeed in navigating their careers by providing career-building resources that develop leadership skills, knowledge of career progression paths, and opportunities to network with leading professional women.

Evelyn Loya

Evelyn is a second-year graduate student at the Price School of Public Policy, where she is pursuing a Masters in Public Policy. She is specifically concentrating in environmental and energy policy. A native Californian, Ms. Loya graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a B.A. in Geography/Environmental Studies and double minored in Geology and in Environmental Systems and Society. While at UCLA, she worked for Congressmember Alan Lowenthal in Washington, D.C. It was at this time that she was able to pursue her passion for the environment and began her career in public policy. Upon graduation, Ms. Loya served as the Government Affairs Analyst for the City Manager’s Office of the City of Long Beach. She supported the Manager of Government Affairs by tracking and analyzing legislative and policy proposals at the local, state, and federal levels. She is currently working for the Asset Management Department at the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, where she is gaining experience in affordable housing policies at the state and federal levels. In her spare time, Ms. Loya enjoys massages, baking, yoga on the beach, gardening with her abuelitos, and building her rock collection from her various excursions across the globe.

Bethany McKee

Bethany is a second-year Master of Public Policy student with interests including arts, education, gender equality, and social justice. A native Austinite, she graduated from the University of Texas, Austin with a BBA in Marketing and a love of BBQ. She currently serves on the board of A Spacious Place, Inc., an Austin-area nonprofit that provides creativity classes, clubs and camps to underserved communities, and enjoys volunteering with the organization when she is in town. In her spare time she enjoys reading, baking, and traveling to places with less traffic.
